Numaish 2011

 

I had been to Numaish, an annual industrial exhibition held here in Hyderabad..It was fun hanging out with my friends Aditya and Siva.. The best part was after the sunset.. Weekend CG exploration

  

I've been too lazy during the last two weeks.. I haven't completed a painting I've been working on..Anyways here are two Blender renders.. Made the chain just to try out DOF using Z-depth.. Didn't like the chain so much.. As for the cup I have kind of got the lighting I had in my mind..Still not very pleased.. Have to start texturing it as well ...

First Blender render

 

Yipee..This is my first Blender render..I've no plans of detailing it any further..But I would like to texture and light it better .. I'd been busy learning Blender during the last two weeks.. Hence no painting updates..

Featured

My sketch of the Charminar has been featured on the cover page of 'Common voices' newsletter released by the Foundation of Ecological security (FES).. The editor of the newsletter was searching for a picture symbolic of Hyderabad and she hit upon my blog :) I'm really elated to have my sketch on the cover page..

Digital painting of a wonderful actor..Spent 8-10 hours on this work.. Painting in B&W was a good experience..I have a folder with portraits of many hollywood celebrities..Would like to paint them all..Check out this space next week :)

A walk to remember

 

I started working on this painting last week..Couldn't complete it as work in the studio was hectic.. I also started another painting.. Feeling bored working on this again.. So i thought i'll blog it.. I'll come back to this again sometime later..I see lot of work can be done on this...As Da Vinci rightly said, "Art is never finished,only abandoned" :)

The poor lad

This painting was inspired by an experience I had last week when i went out for dinner at a roadside eatery..I have been seeing little children begging in the vicinity..But that day I was very much moved to see this little guy, famished,shabbily dressed and face distraught in frustration.. He was begging through the crowd..No one paid heed to him as they were busy enjoying the third meal of the day.. No sooner I saw him with a plate and some food which he apparently picked up from the left overs.. He even stole food from a plate someone left unaware..It was a pathetic sight..For him it was just another day but it touched me so much..And so I decided to paint him..

A new year is born

I was bored last night, having got nothing to do on new year night.. Couldn't reach my friends on the mobile probably because the network was jammed..I decided to take a walk on my terrace..I was excited to see other people partying on their terrace, fireworks in the sky and revelers on the road..I just wanted to scream out loud and join the rest of the world in ushering the new year ... So i have painted this wonderful experience..Happy new year everyone !

As it dawned ..

Woke up this morning on Charminar express, saw this wonderful early morning view.. I could not pull out my camera from my bag to capture it..So i decided i should paint it..It was such a wonderful view with the sun rising behind the train, covered in the fog, throwing the foreground to a silhouette..

I love creating art from scribbles.. Wanted to make this with simple strokes and still maintain the form and pose.. Used a frame from 300 ( movie ) as a reference ..Planning to make a matte painting of it soon..

Horsinx

Recently i read about James Cameron's plans of making two sequels of Avatar.. There were hints of having the story shot underwater.. I came up with this concept taking inspiration from the first part :) Hope JC would consider my design ;)
